Dr. Johnston received his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biology from Brigham Young University and Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree from the University of Colorado at the Anschutz Medical Campus. He then pursued surgical training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Tennessee Knoxville Medical Center. Following residency, he completed one year of fellowship training in Craniomaxillofacial Trauma and Reconstruction at the Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Johnston is currently stationed at Travis Air Force Base where he is the program director for the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency. Dr. Johnston earnestly strives to provide evidence-based care that is ethical and compassionate. He and his wife enjoy living in California where they seek adventure with their four energetic children.
Dr. Jay Fedorowicz is an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon who received his dental degree from the University of Detroit Mercythen completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry and residency at Bolling Air Force Base, Washington D.C. He served one tour as a United States Air Force general dental officer in Japan before completing his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield.
Dr. Fedorowicz practiced as a military surgeon focusing on:
in Japan, Korea, and Tampa Florida treating military active duty personnel, family members, and retirees.
After practicing for eight years, he was selected for a two-year fellowship program in Head and Neck Oncologic and Microvascular Reconstruction Surgery at the University of California San Francisco Fresno. He further broadened his scope of practice to include head & neck cancer treatment and reconstruction surgery. During the fellowship, he maintained his oral surgery skills as a faculty at the University of San Francisco Fresno School of Medicine teaching future oral surgeons.
Dr. Fedorowicz is a Board-Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, as well as a Fellow of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. Furthermore, he is certified in Elective Facial Cosmetic Surgery in California, BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ATLS.
His professional motto is to be a good listener and an empathetic surgeon who provides the best personal care possible for his patients.
During his free time, Dr. Fedorowicz goes on bike riding with his daughter and baseball training with his son. He and his wife enjoy cooking and exploring various ethnic cuisines. Most of all, he loves to relax at home with his dog, Mukku.
Dr. Ahn graduated magna cum laude from Case Western Reserve University with honors in biochemistry. He then attended the University of Pennsylvania and received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree in 2013. Upon graduation, Dr. Ahn was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base as an active duty Air Force general dentist for one year prior to his formal residency training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) at the San Antonio Military Medical Center.
During his time in residency, he performed full-scope oral and maxillofacial procedures with a special emphasis on the dentoalveolar, implant, orthognathic, trauma, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery.
Dr. Ahn also completed a year of minimally invasive and TMJ surgery fellowship with the Harvard OMS program at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is currently stationed at Travis Air Force Base as the program director of the David Grant USAF Medical Center OMS residency program.
As an assistant professor of Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Dr. Ahn is actively involved in teaching OMS and advanced education in general dentistry (AEGD) residents.
Dr. Ahn is dedicated to providing the highest quality, professional care to his patients. He has completed a rigorous examination process to become board certified and now hold Diplomate status in the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
He holds life support certification in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
I grew up in Long Island, New York and went to college at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook where I majored in Biology and graduated with honors in 1997. I graduated from New York University College of Dentistry in the top 10 percent of the class in 2002. Next I enrolled in the dual degree Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Northshore Medical Center and the Northport VA Medical Center. During this period, I graduated from SUNY Stony Brook Medical School in 2005 with an MD degree and completed a rigorous internship in General Surgery at LIJ/NS/VA. Finally I completed my Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical training at LIJ/NS/VA in 2008 having served as Chief Resident in my final year.
Since finishing Dental, Medical, Anesthesia and Surgical training, I have been on active duty with the US Air Force and have served assignments in Japan, England and now at Travis Air Base in California where I concentrate mostly on teaching residents.
My areas of professional interest include extraction of wisdom teeth and other teeth, dental implants, bone grafting, ambulatory anesthesia, facial trauma, oral pathology and exposure/bonding of impacted teeth. I am licensed to practice in California and New York and maintains certifications in BLS, ACLS and PALS.
Besides Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, I enjoy traveling, movies, Northern Indian classical music, racquetball, tennis and spending time with my family. My motto in life is: “Follow the golden rule … treat others how you would like to be treated”.
